About Call of Duty: Warzone

Warzone is a free to play BR title that features huge lobbies per match consisting of 150 players in each lobby. Similarly to PUBG, Warzone is all about precise gunplay and tactical gameplay. Warzone uses Activsion's Demonware network infrastructure.

Why Ping Matters in Warzone

Since Warzone is a FPS Battle Royale, it is all about intense combat where every second matters. Surviving a 150-player lobby is not an easy feat. So your ping is extremely important. Throughout a match you will be engaging in extremely long range fights as well as CQC. So you cannot afford hit registration issues. The traditional BR mode uses 20-tick rate servers while the Resurgence mode runs at 60Hz. You should target anything under 60ms to keep your competitve advantage.

Optimal Network Settings

Use the in-game network indicators to figure out what type of issue you are experiencing. Keep your in-game telemetry enabled to monitor your ping and packet loss percentage.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Troubleshoot Ping Issues in Warzone: 1) Make sure you NAT type is either Open or Moderate, and not Strict. 2) Enable UPnP in your router settings if you have 'Strict NAT'. 3) Check for any server downtime in Warzone. 4) Use our ping tool to check if you are getting high ping on all the servers or not. If you are, then restart your router first. If that doesn't do the job then contact your ISP. 5) Temporarily turn off your firewall and then test again.

Warzone Network FAQ

What is a good ping for Warzone?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 60ms. Pro players typically play at under 30ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 120ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

Warzone operates at 20Hz (Battle Royale) / 60Hz (Resurgence). Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
