About Escape from Tarkov

Escape from Tarkov is a multiplayer FPS Extraction Shooter made by Battlestate Games. The game is all about Raids and realistic combat. With over 15 servers all of over the world, EFT is one of the oldest extraction shooters in existence.

Why Ping Matters in Tarkov

Escape from Tarkov has a PvP system, and whenever there is PvP included in a game, your ping is going to always matter. High ping will cause hit reg and dysync issues, which will easily put you in a disadvantage against your opponents. So aim for latency under 70ms.

Optimal Network Settings

Use the EFT launcher and pick the server with the lowest ping. Now, a server having the lowest ping does not mean that it will perform the best. In that case, select multiple ones. Don't forget to enable your FPS counter to monitor your performance.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

To fix connectivity issues in EFT: 1) Run a quick test using our tool to figure out which servers have the lowest ping for you. Then select those servers manually, instead of letting the game pick for you. 2) EFT servers might be down so you need to check for that. 3) Try flushing your DNS. 4) Ensure you are not running VPNs or any server router in the background.

Tarkov Network FAQ

What is a good ping for Tarkov?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 50ms. Pro players typically play at under 25ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 100ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

Tarkov operates at 60Hz. Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
