About Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

Featuring brand-new gameplay and movement mechanics, COD BO6 is the direct sequel to the original Black Ops storyline. From movement tech like Omnimovement to allowing players to see 360-degree while prone, BO6 has really set the bar for new-age Call of Duty. With dedicated servers backed by Activision's Demonware supporting the Multiplayer experience, BO6 is all about swift movement and quick decision-making.

Why Ping Matters in BO6

If don't want to experience issues like 'ghost bullets' or 'super bullets', you have to make sure that your ping is low in Black Ops 6. If you have low ping then you will have a huge advantage as Call of Duty games utilize client-side hit detection with server-side validation. When experience high ping, the discrepancy between the BO6 servers and your local client increases, which could result in rubberbanding. BO6 servers consist a 60Hz tick rate where the state of the game is updated every 16.67ms, this makes every millisecond matter in the game.

Optimal Network Settings

To get the best possible experience in Black Ops 6, make sure that you have 'On-Demand Texture Streaming' disabled as it requires a fast and stable internet connection. If you are on Windows then ensure that the Power Management for your Network Adapter is set to 'Maximum Performance'. On the other hand, if you are using a Console, use it on rest mode to schedule updates for later. Always opt for a wired connection, and if you are going to use a router then make sure to set 'Prioritize Network Traffic' in the QoS settings of your system.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Fixes that are commonly recommended by BO6 devs: 1) Make sure that you don't have 'Strict Nat'. It either has to be Open or Moderate. In case of strict NAT, trying putting your console in a DMZ to diagnose the issue. 2) Open the following ports: TCP 3074/UDP 3074/3478-3480. 3) Make sure UPnP is enabled in your router settings or you have Port Forwarding available. Consider learning about the process of Port Forwarding first. 4) You can also check Bo6's server status, as the servers might be down. 5) Clearing the game cache could also help. 6) Finally, consider disabling crossplay and then try playing again.

BO6 Network FAQ

What is a good ping for BO6?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 60ms. Pro players typically play at under 30ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 120ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

BO6 operates at 60Hz (MP) / 20Hz (Warzone). Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
