About Tom Clancy's The Division 2

The Division 2 is one of the most popular ARPG shooter ever created. The game is made by Massive Entertainment where your job is to explore the post-apocalyptic period Washington D.C. and do various types of missions through out the map. The game has PvP and PvE at the same time, and also features top class raids.

Why Ping Matters in The Division 2

Tom Clancy's The Division 2 is a game that is not only about running around the map aimlessly and shooting your enemies. You have to very strategic about the fights you take and the way you take them. You need to have knowledge about when to take cover and time your shots right. If you have high ping, the speed at which you hop in and out of cover is decreased. On top of that, the problem of hit registration and rubberbanding is also there. Not to mention, you will most likely be eliminated in a blink of an eye if you are not timing your dodges and shots right inside the Dark Zone. Therefore, below 80ms ping is recommended.

Optimal Network Settings

Check to see if the Ubisoft servers are up or not. Enabling in-game latency and fps display would be a wise decision. That way you would be able to monitor your ping constantly.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Troubleshooting lag in The Division 2: 1) Use our tool to check your latency to see if the problem is from your side or the server side. 2) Enable UPnP on your router. This will eradicate Strict NAT issues. 3) Restart your router once. 4) Make sure you don't have any VPN or active downloads running in the background. 5) Not sure how effective it is, but you can try verifying the game files on Steam or the Ubisoft Connect app.

The Division 2 Network FAQ

What is a good ping for The Division 2?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 70ms. Pro players typically play at under 35ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 140ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

The Division 2 operates at Server-based. Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
