About Forza Horizon 6

After a lot of anticipation Forza Horizon 6 is finally here. It is the latest title in the FH series developed by Playground Games. In the game, you drive all the exotic cars you can dream of across the massive open-world map of Japan, doing various activities. Both offline and online PvP racing is available for players to engage in. Forza Horizon 6 uses Microsoft's Azure servers for online/multiplayer engagements.

Why Ping Matters in FH6

Now, it is obvious that Forza Horizon 6 is a racing game, and racing games are known to be a lot more forgiving than FPS titles. But that doesn't change the fact that FH6 has online competitive mulitplayer, and a quite intense one. PvP races can get extremely competitive at times, and having high ping can make cars participating in races to wrap around tracks. This would lead to phantom collisions that may cause players to lose races. As long as your ping is under 100ms, you should be good.

Optimal Network Settings

Firstly, you need to realise that Forza Horizon 6 doesn't offer any setting to select servers manually. Instead, it connects you to the Azure servers closest to your location. So, it is advisable that you use our ping test tool and figure out which server is the closest one and how much ping you are getting on it. Before doing this make sure you are not connected via Wifi and using Ethernet connection instead.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Troubleshooting connection problems in FH6: 1) Start by checking if the Xbox/Microsoft server are online or not. 2) Make sure you are not running any VPN in the background. 3) Go to your Microsoft Store and make sure your Gaming Services are updated. 4) Just quick restart your router just to be on the safe side.

FH6 Network FAQ

What is a good ping for FH6?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 100ms. Pro players typically play at under 50ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 200ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

FH6 operates at Server-based. Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
