How it works

We test round-trips (HTTPS) from your browser to AWS/Cloudflare or Game server endpoints if they're public or published by the developers. The first request is warmup, and then consecutive requests (upto 5) are used to make out an average. Browser tests usually add some latency, so in-game is usually lower.

Avg:
Avg trip time. This is what creates the ranking and how well your connection is doing.
Jitter:
How much the ping jumps across tests. Under 10 ms is smooth and acceptable.
Failed:
Requests to some servers might fail. We ignore these tests in results.
Grade:
Combined average of all tests across all mentioned servers.

About Genshin Impact

Launched in 2020, Genshin Impact is a free-to-play massive open world ARPG developed by HoYoverse, that took the world of Action RPGs by storm when it was released. The game has a massive base of characters and they all possess their own unique elemental powers. The reason why people are so obsessed with Genshin is because of its very frequent expanding world. The devs are extremely active and are always adding new characters, regions, missions, and storylines. Since Genshin is mainly a PvE gacha title it doesn't have a lot of server regions. Currently, HoYoverse has setup servers in EU, Asia, America, and HK/TW/MO.

Why Ping Matters in Genshin Impact

Since Genshin Impact is mainly a PvE game, which means you don't have to sweat when it comes to managing your ping in the game. But high latency can still cause delay in movements, responsiveness during combat, and ability usage. If you have extremely high ping then that can become a problem when doing co-op or time-limited activities. So make sure your ping is hovering somewhere around 100ms.

Optimal Network Settings

When making your account in Genshin Impact for the first time, the game does give you the option to pick your server manually. Use our ping test tool to find the server with the lowest ping and make sure to pick that one. Once you have picked you cannot change servers mid-game without starting the whole process over. Don't forget to constantly monitor your ping from the Network Settings menu.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Troubleshooting Genshin Impact connectivity problems: 1) Start by checking if the HoYoverse servers are facing any downtime or not. If they are then there is your answer. 2) Make sure you are picking the closest server from your location. 3) If the problem persists, open CMD and type ipconfig/ flushdns to flush your DNS. This helps a lot in case of online games. 4) If you are using any VPN on your Mobile or PC, disable it. 5) If you are playing the game on a smartphone, try switching between your Wi-fi and 5G because one might be having some problem.

Genshin Impact Network FAQ

What is a good ping for Genshin Impact?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 100ms. Pro players typically play at under 50ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 200ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

Genshin Impact operates at Server-based. Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
