About Teamfight Tactics

One of the most popular auto battlers in the world, Teamfight Tactics is turn-based startegy game built on the LoL universe, made by Riot Games. With over 14 regional servers spreading across the globe, TFT uses Riot's premium network called 'Riot Direct' for the best routing.

Why Ping Matters in TFT

It is true that the gameplay of TFT is not as intense as other PvP games, as it is a turn-based strategy game. However, you need to have low ping if you are going to make speedy decisions and execute your moves within the planning phase. High Ping could result in delay when managing your items and placing your units. 100ms or less ping is recommended.

Optimal Network Settings

Use our tool to find the best server region from your location. Then while creating your account, make sure you are picking that region. Ensure you don't have applications running that tend to hog a lot of bandwidth. Close all your browsers and pause all your downloads just to be sure.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

In case of connection issues in Teamfight Tactics: 1) Go to Riot's Support page and check the server status of TFT. 2) Double check to see if you are on the correct regional server or not. 3) You can try using the Hextech Repair tool to see if it takes care of the issue you are having. 4) Give your router a quick restart to re-establish a new connection with your ISP. 5) Close VPNs.

TFT Network FAQ

What is a good ping for TFT?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 80ms. Pro players typically play at under 40ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 160ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

TFT operates at Server-based. Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
