How it works

We test round-trips (HTTPS) from your browser to AWS/Cloudflare or Game server endpoints if they're public or published by the developers. The first request is warmup, and then consecutive requests (upto 5) are used to make out an average. Browser tests usually add some latency, so in-game is usually lower.

Avg:
Avg trip time. This is what creates the ranking and how well your connection is doing.
Jitter:
How much the ping jumps across tests. Under 10 ms is smooth and acceptable.
Failed:
Requests to some servers might fail. We ignore these tests in results.
Grade:
Combined average of all tests across all mentioned servers.

About Smite 2

Sequel to the well-known legendary third-person MOBA, Smite, Smite 2 is a popular MOBA title developed by Titan Forge Games and published by Hi Rez Studios. Smite 2 is quite similar to LoL and Dota 2, but the only difference is that Smite 2 is played in a third-person perspective opposed to the other MOBAs that have a top-down perspective. This feature makes the game feel more like an action game. You get to control a variety of Mythological figures in the game, each having their own unique abilities, in a 5v5 PvP setup.

Why Ping Matters in Smite 2

Traditional MOBAs don't require you to aim much. Smite 2 does. If a PvP game is third-person, your aim and reaction time is always going to matter. That is why ping is very important in this game. High Latency will lead to delayed reactions, missed shots, failed dodges, and broken ability combos. With high ping you will most likely be throwing the game. Make sure that your ping is below 70ms at least.

Optimal Network Settings

Since Smite 2 offers you the option to select the region you want from the settings menu, do a quick ping test using our tool and select the region with the lowest ping. Make sure you are on a wired connection when performing the test for accurate results. After you start the game, make sure to monitor your ping by enabling the in-game ping display via the settings menu.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Troubleshooting Smite 2 connectivity issues: 1) Your first move should be to check the server status of the Hi-Rez servers to see if the servers are facing any downtime or not. 2) Ensure that you are playing the game on the closest server region from your location. 3) Make sure to disable all sorts of VPNs and Server Routers. 4) Try flushing your DNS by typing ipconfig /flushdns in CMD. 5) Give a quick restart to your router. 6) In case of frequent disconnections, you should try verifying the game files via Steam.

Smite 2 Network FAQ

What is a good ping for Smite 2?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 70ms. Pro players typically play at under 35ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 140ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

Smite 2 operates at 30Hz. Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
