How it works

We test round-trips (HTTPS) from your browser to AWS/Cloudflare or Game server endpoints if they're public or published by the developers. The first request is warmup, and then consecutive requests (upto 5) are used to make out an average. Browser tests usually add some latency, so in-game is usually lower.

Avg:
Avg trip time. This is what creates the ranking and how well your connection is doing.
Jitter:
How much the ping jumps across tests. Under 10 ms is smooth and acceptable.
Failed:
Requests to some servers might fail. We ignore these tests in results.
Grade:
Combined average of all tests across all mentioned servers.

About Honkai: Star Rail

Made by developers of Genshin, HoYoverse decided to take a turn-based tactical RPG approach with Hokai: Star Rail. The entire setup of the game is in Space and features a good enough roster of Heroes, each having their own set of unique abilities. Your objective in the game is to explore the worlds, complete various missions, and build powerful squads.

Why Ping Matters in Star Rail

It is true that turn-based games are not as demanding as BR or MOBA games, the connection you are playing the game on still matters. The problem of delayed inputs will always be there with High Ping. So aim for below 100ms ping.

Optimal Network Settings

Before you create your account, connect to a high speed Wifi network and use our tool to figure out the server region with the lowest ping, then pick that region. As, once picked, you cannot switch regions.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

Troubleshooting high ping issues in Honkai: Star Rail: 1) Use the realtime ping checker to check which server region is offering the lowest ping for your connection. 2) For mobile devices, try switching between Wifi and Mobile Data and decide the best option by yourself. 3) Check to see if the HoYoverse servers are facing any sort of downtime or not. 4) Make sure you are not using any VPN or Server Routing app in the background.

Star Rail Network FAQ

What is a good ping for Star Rail?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 100ms. Pro players typically play at under 50ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 200ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

Star Rail operates at N/A (Turn-based). Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
