About Diablo IV

Released in 2023, Diablo 4 is a dark fantasy ARPG made by Blizzard Entertainment. The game features an open world environment that allows both PvE and PvP activities. Similar to the other Diablo games, this installment also features mulitple classes to choose from. Players fight hoardes of enemies, and a vairiety of bosses for loot. Diablo 4 automatically connects you the closest server. Also, the game is cross-play compatible with no region restrictions.

Why Ping Matters in Diablo IV

There are a ton of extremely challenging PvE and PvP activities in Diablo 4 where your reaction time matters a lot. If you have high ping then you might face a great deal of delay in your combat responsiveness and ability usage. If you are not being able to react quickly to your surroundings, then you will find yourself getting eliminated quite often.

Optimal Network Settings

Since Diablo 4 doesn't allow you to select your server automatically, you need to make sure that the server you are getting assigned to has low ping. Use our ping test tool to find which servers are offering the lowest ping. Using a wired connection over Wifi is recommended. If you are playing the game on a console, then give your console a quick restart.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

In case of connectivity issues in Diablo 4: 1) Start by checking the server status of the game. If the game servers are down then there is nothing you can do. 2) Quickly verify the game files via Steam or Battle.net. 3) Do a quick speedtest of your connection to make sure that your internet is working well. 4) You can try resetting your network device as there is chance that it is getting flooded with data. By restarting your modem/router you will establish a fresh connection with your ISP. This is also called Power Cycling. 5) Make sure you don't have any downloads or updates running in the background.

Diablo IV Network FAQ

What is a good ping for Diablo IV?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 80ms. Pro players typically play at under 40ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 160ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

Diablo IV operates at Server-based. Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
