About Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 is the fifth installment in the Forza Horizon series released in 2021. It is an open-world racing game from Xbox Game Studios set in Mexico. The game is backed by Microsoft Azure servers spread across different regions of the globe. They make sure that players get a smooth experience when free-roaming and racing against other players.

Why Ping Matters in FH5

Despite being a racing game, that are known to be less intenst than shooters, FH5 still has a solid multiplayer PvP system. That is where your ping comes into play. High ping in a game like Forza could cause your cars to teleport and crash constantly. If you don't want that to happen, make sure your ping is under 100ms.

Optimal Network Settings

To make sure that you are not facing disruptions while racing, make sure that you are using a wired connection. Since the game automatically picks the closest server from your location, there is no easy way to pick a specific server. What you can do is, use our ping test tool to at least know what ping you are getting on different servers. If you notice that you have high ping on all regions, then you need to contact your ISP.

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

FH5 high ping troubleshooting: 1) To Ensure that the Forza Horizon 5 services are up and running, Check Xbox Live server status. 2) Try to close any sort of VPN or bandwidth-heavy apps running in the background. 3) Make sure you have updated your Gaming Services from the Microsoft app. 4) Check if the game has any pending updates or not.

FH5 Network FAQ

What is a good ping for FH5?

If you are looking to play competitively, you should aim for under 100ms. Pro players typically play at under 50ms. Just make sure that your ping doesn't go above 200ms as it will negatively impact gameplay.

Does tick rate affect my experience?

FH5 operates at Server-based. Higher tick rates lead to more responsive hit registration. Your actions and how quickly they are registered in-game are determined by your ping and tick rate combined.

Which server region should I choose?

Use our Ping Test tool to figure out your latency with all the regions, and pick the one with the lowest.

How can I reduce my ping?

Pick a wired Ethernet connection if you can, as WiFi tend to bring a lot of connection issues. Fiber connections are better than the traditional ones. Close applications that are hogging all your bandwidth. If you are going to use a WiFi router, just make sure you have QoS enabled on it. Trying Cloudflare or Google DNS can help in a lot of cases.
